The DS54 features an air vent valve with traditional pressure relief valve.
By creating a gearless design, Welch Allyn has developed with the DuraShock ™ a manometer with few moving parts. shock resistant and lighter than traditional gauges. Until now, a tensiometer dropped to the ground required calibration or replacement. However, the DuraShock ™ Tensiometer can drop up to 76 cm in height on a hard surface while remaining calibrated. It is the only manometer capable of meeting the requirements of AAMI impact tests. (Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation).
In the traditional design of an aneroidal sphygmomanometer, a delicate set of gears and springs makes it possible to convert and amplify the vertical movement of the pinion in rotary motion in order to turn the needle. The DuraShock ™ design farewells the gears and uses a simple coil spring to directly convert the pinion's vertical motion for needle rotation without the use of the multi-phase gear system.
